Visy has donated $250,000 towards the cyclone recovery in Hawke’s Bay, contributing to the Hawke’s Bay Foundation’s Cyclone Relief Fund.
The money donated by Visy through the Pratt Foundation will support the rebuild and recovery of infrastructure in Hawke’s Bay. Hawke’s Bay Foundation’s Cyclone Relief Fund has the local expertise and knowledge to distribute the funds to where they are most urgently needed.
Visy Co-owner Fiona Geminder said the funding would target those areas of the region hit hardest by the cyclone.
“Our hearts go out to all those affected by the cyclone and we hope this donation helps in the recovery,” she said.
“We've seen time and again how communities come together to support one another in times of crisis, the people of Hawke’s Bay are no different.
“I’m encouraged by the way our team members at Visy have been supporting the community any way they can. I’m pleased we’ve been able to assist and I’d encourage others to donate or help out if they’re able to.”
Giles Pearson, Chair of Hawke’s Bay Foundation’s Cyclone Relief Fund, welcomed the generous donation from the Pratt Foundation.
“We greatly appreciate the Pratt Foundation and Visy trusting the Hawke’s Bay Foundation’s Cyclone Relief Fund to ensure funds reach the community for recovery.
“The people of Hawke’s Bay are working hard to help one another clean up but the impacts of this will be felt for a long, long time both socially and economically, and communities will need a lot of support for a long time to come.”
Visy Co-Owner, Fiona Geminder was in Auckland this week visiting Visy sites and teams to support them in the wake of the recent cyclone and to talk about the recent donation to support our customers and teams impacted in the Hawke’s Bay area.
If you can, please contribute to the fund.
