Less than a year after opening, the dedicated employee training centre in Tumut, NSW, has seen its first four trainees complete their training in record time. Visy Tumut management set the centre up as a dedicated environment for full time production operators busy with training modules, as well as new starters completing training programs.
Under the leadership of Robert Moore, Training Coordinator — Pulp, with assistance from Craig Cullinger, Training Coordinator — Paper, four process trainees begun a six-month accelerated training program.
The program provided the process trainees with the skills to work as outside operators on any of the three boilers at the pulp and paper mill.
The commitment from the four trainees — Michael, Marco, Jeremy and Ariel — to their own development, meant they completed the course early, and were ready to go onto shift in only two months!
Well done to all involved! This is only the start of training and developing the next generation of operators at the mill.
