Luke loves the “cool machines” he works on as an electrical apprentice at our beverage can site in Yatala, Queensland. He shares his love of problem solving and why Visy has been a great choice for his apprenticeship.

I enjoy problem solving

I enjoy the project work we have going on as well as assisting in the break downs. I enjoy problem solving and fault finding. When we have a breakdown, I love getting in there and helping the sparkies try and solve whatever is going on. I love working on the maintenance days that we have once a month. It's usually a great time for us to get in some good project work and for me to a learn a lot about the electrical industry.

The sparkies are excellent mentors—making settling in a breeze

Since joining the team, I have learnt lots from all the sparkies. I’ve had the opportunity to work on some good install projects, such as the new camera system which detects defects in cans. I am also learning to better understand how to fault find and to problem solve more efficiently.

The team have been great to me. All the sparkies are excellent mentors and have made settling into my apprenticeship a breeze. The management team have all made me feel welcome. The crews and fitters have made it an easy workplace to settle in to.

Visy is a phenomenal choice for my apprenticeship

My advice for anyone wanting to join Visy would be to take the opportunity if it ever arises. Visy has been great so far. Everything from the work to the team has been great. Visy has definitely been a phenomenal choice for my apprenticeship as I get so much variety in the work I get to do and every day is different.

If you love solving problems too, join Luke as an electrical apprentice.
