Shannon in our logistics team is helping to keep fridges stocked this summer, as a heavy combination truck driver in our beverage can supply chain.
Shannon joined our logistics team in Melbourne three years ago, looking for a new start in the transport industry. Today, she’s part of our beverage chain fleet, delivering cans to customers and transferring pallets between our Clayton production site and the Epping logistics hub.
Her journey began through our Female Drivers Program, an initiative designed to create accessible pathways for women in transport.
“Visy’s strong advocacy for women, hands-on training, and career progression made it an easy decision,” she says. “I saw an opportunity to grow within a large organisation, both in transport and beyond.”
For Shannon, every day brings something new. “I love the daily challenges and learning all the time. Being a driver is a constant learning curve, and it’s satisfying to overcome new situations,” she explains. Meeting new people and having the freedom to grow at her own pace has been another highlight.
Support has played a big role in her success.
“The team at Visy has been welcoming across all sites. I’ve grown alongside amazing women who’ve become close friends, and I’m lucky to have two supervisors who’ve encouraged me every step of the way.”
Her advice for anyone considering a career at Visy? “Go in with an open mind and be ready to learn. It’s fast-paced, but if you get involved, ask questions, and give it a go, there are plenty of opportunities to build a solid career.”
Shannon is excited about what’s next. “I want to keep growing in my role, take on new challenges, and hopefully upgrade my licence to multi-combination (MC) in the future.”
