Brad has built a long career at our kraft paper mill in Tumut, New South Wales, with over 25 years at the site.
He worked on the construction of the site as a fitter, then moved into maintenance once the mill was operational—first as a leading hand and then a supervisor. He then progressed to a planner role.
In 2018, Brad stepped into his current role as Senior Maintenance Planner, where he works across the mill supporting large-scale maintenance planning and execution.
“I work with tradespeople right through to supervisors, coordinating the planning and execution to make the major shutdown and other shuts happen safely and successfully.”
Brad is responsible for the site’s maintenance management system, handling the processes and administration of data.
“We use it to manage equipment and develop schedules for weekly maintenance through to our annual major shut down.”
In 2027, Brad’s team will upgrade this system and he’s excited to see how it will make the team even more efficient.
Brad is most satisfied by bringing complex plans to life, such as the annual major maintenance shut down.
“The best part of my job is putting a major plan together and working with a good team to execute it.
A lifelong resident of Tumut, Brad deeply values the opportunities his career at Visy has provided.
“I appreciate that Visy has given me an opportunity to stay here and raise my family in a beautiful town. I’ve been able to coach, play and referee local sports with my boys as they’ve grown, which is a great passion of mine.”
For anyone thinking about a career with Visy, Brad says go for it.
“If you’re keen to get in, get the work done and work in a team, opportunities will come your way. Every day brings something new and we’re always learning from each other.”
“We’re lucky as we have a knowledgeable team of people from all over the world, working with locals like me. The different cultures are great. Our team is driven and always looking at improving what we do. Even if you’re new to the industry, our team always help each other.”
