Site environmental monitoring and management plans
Visy is committed to minimising the impact of our operations on the environment and the community. We operate our plants in accordance with all relevant legislation and licence conditions as a minimum and strive to continually improve our performance and minimise our impacts on the environment. Visy has a corporate Integrated Management System which provides the framework for the management of safety and environmental hazards and compliance obligations.
Visy's major sites in NSW operate under site specific development approvals and environmental protection licences issued by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (NSWDPIE) and NSW Environmental Protection Agency (NSWEPA). The approval conditions describe the specific compliance and performance requirements. Some of these conditions require Visy to prepare site environmental management plans and undertake monitoring to measure environmental performance and publish this information on the company website. Visy uses the structure of its Integrated Management System and site based hazard registers to meet these obligations.
The files below are the current monitoring data and management plans required to be publicly available for these Visy sites up to the end of the previous month. We welcome any questions about this data via our enquiry form.

Emissions testing from the stack is undertaken annually in accordance with the Licence. An annual summary of stack testing results is published and attached below.
Visy’s Tumut and Smithfield facilities operate under an Environmental Management System that is independently certified to ISO 14001. The environmental monitoring data is analysed by the trained and experienced operational personnel as part of the regular review of the site's environmental performance under this system.
