After roles in operations, human resources and management, Lauren Rossi wanted to take the next step in her career.
“I had just completed my Masters of Business Administration at Melbourne Business School and wanted to flex my operational leadership skills.”
It was working for a large, well-known, Australian-owned family business that attracted Lauren to a role as a Site Manager at Visy’s paper recycling facility in Coolaroo, Victoria.
“Managing the team and operations at the paper recycling yard has given me the opportunity to work with great people and on exciting projects.”
“I’m proud that my team are passionate and take pride in their work, which gives me great confidence in them. It’s great to be surrounded by people with different experiences that you can lean on when you need help.”
“We’re playing an important role in Australia’s circular economy—recycling paper and cardboard ready for it to be remade into new cardboard packaging for the food and beverage sector. We’re also taking containers collected through CDS Vic and helping to recycle them back into new bottles and other types of packaging.”
She says it’s the family feel and mix of people in the team that makes it special.
“Visy has a nice family feel about it. I like that the owners are in touch and connected with the operations.
“There are a lot of really talented people in the business—seasoned professionals and new, motivated people. They all go above and beyond to help make us successful.”
But it’s not just the team that makes Visy an exciting place to work.
“I’ve been involved in lots of exciting projects, from installing Australia’s first drum pulper to recycle even more paper and cardboard to Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme.”
“This year I’m looking forward to watching our CDS Vic operations grow and bed down to further support Visy’s role in delivering it.”
If you’re considering a role at Visy, Lauren says it’s the people and projects that should convince you to apply.
“There are some really great projects and experienced people here who have a lot to offer. Plus, if you thrive on networking and problem solving, Visy is a good fit.”
