A strong work ethic and commitment to growth are driving Rebecca to expand her skills and build a long-term career in the print industry.
Starting as a part-time can stacker, she quickly recognised the opportunity to grow and took the initiative to develop across multiple areas of the site.
“I realised that my potential was far more than my first role. I made a conscious decision to apply myself more and I’ve been able to achieve this in all the departments onsite. I am now competent in palletiser, sprays, front end and now as a decorator (printer) operator.
“I remain both thankful and humble for these opportunities and equally happy, that I’ve been able to achieve, in these areas.”
She is now completing an engineering apprenticeship.
“My ambition is to increase my knowledge in all areas. I have shown that my can-do attitude has helped me grow over the years. Knowledge is growth for any individual and applying these skills in my workplace will be invaluable for the company moving forward.”
Delivering high-quality outcomes is a key motivator, particularly in the technical demands of print production.
“I enjoy the challenge of problem solving, my aim to strive for the very best result and I will not settle for anything less than perfection, in the end product.”
A standout challenge has been mastering colour matching, where precision and consistency are critical.
“Matching colours to the target is a critical part of the business, it's so important to remain calm and focused. Once achieved its satisfying and rewarding. Always remaining vigilant whilst you aim to maintain this at speed is the key.”
Rebecca encourages anyone considering the industry to stay disciplined and open to learning.
“I’d say it’s hard work, but very rewarding. Stay focused, back yourself and be willing to learn.”
Rebecca was shortlisted as a finalist in this year’s PrintNZ 2026 Apprentice of the Year.
