Roya works as a chemist and primary packaging analyst in our Operational Excellence Team. Her focus is on beverage cans, working on test packs, quality assessments and corrosion analysis.   

“My role involves evaluating can performance under different storage conditions and supporting customers with technical insights and solutions.”  

Roya enjoys improving product and operational performance through identifying root causes of issues and developing solutions to improve quality and customer outcomes.  

Joining Visy

Roya likes working in science because of its limitless opportunities for discovery and learning.  

“I like science because it encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. It gives me the freedom to ask questions and understand how things work, almost like a child who is always eager to explore and learn. Science is constantly evolving, which means there is always something new to discover, improve, or challenge. This sense of continuous learning keeps the work exciting, meaningful, and deeply motivating for me.”  

Advice for the next generation of women in science  

For women and girls considering a career in science, Roya encourages confidence, curiosity and persistence.  

“Science needs diverse perspectives, and women bring valuable insight, resilience and creativity to the field. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, seek mentors, and take up space — your voice and ideas matter. There may be moments of doubt, but don’t lose hope; with persistence and curiosity, you will eventually achieve what you are working towards. Confidence grows with experience, and every step forward counts.”
