Kerry recently stepped into the role of Inventory Stores Manager at our Tumut paper mill, bringing valuable experience from her previous position as our Maintenance Store Inventory Coordinator. With a strong background in the gas and timber industries, she’s well equipped to support operations at our largest paper mill.
Kerry is part of a team of four, maintaining the spare parts inventory and ensuring they are accurate and available from receipt through to end use. This involves cataloguing, quoting, purchasing and maintaining strong store records.
Everyone uses the inventory store, says Kerry, and the Tumut store controls a large share of Visy’s total inventory.
“We track over a thousand line items a month, and issue out up to 5,000 line items every month. That’s up to 400 transactions every day.”
The site also runs two 100% stocktakes each year, which is a continuous process.
Kerry enjoys the challenge of maintaining stock records in the lead up to the mill’s annual major shut down, which sees additional parts brought in from Australia and around the world, and more than 1,300 additional workers on site.
“With the right mindset and preparation, everything runs smoothly. The staff here are legends!”
Kerry enjoys working alongside a passionate and supportive team.
“I’m excited to see what we can accomplish every day. We have ongoing and new challenges. The days all differ, but the end goal is still the same—to provide the best service to the mill we can.”
“Visy Tumut offers challenges and opportunities on a monumental scale. We are a massive site. But, like any well-oiled machine, it runs like an orchestra, with each person playing their part to keep the machines running.”
Working in the Snowy Mountains region of New South Wales also has many benefits, says Kerry.
“We are surrounded by some of the prettiest landscapes, but only two hours from Canberra. We have a four-seasons lifestyle: skiing in the winter; fishing, cycling and hiking during the spring and autumn; and swimming and water sports in the summer.”
