A $30 million upgrade at Visy’s 100% recycled paper mill on Gibson Island in Brisbane will see the site manufacture new grades of paper for corrugated boxes for Queensland’s thriving farmers and, food and beverage businesses.
To celebrate its commissioning, Queensland Minister for the Environment and Tourism, the Hon. Andrew Powell MP, visited the mill today and inspected the upgrade.
The project, represents 100,000 staff hours and 170 people to complete the upgrade —from sheet formation to drying and energy systems.
The paper mill— the only 100% recycled paper mill in the state—recycles paper from Queenslanders’ recycling bins into 100% recycled paper and corrugated boxes.
The project represents Visy’s dedication to supporting Queensland producers and food and beverage industry to grow, said Mark De Wit, CEO of Visy.
