Yesterday, Docklands locals, school students, businesses, and visitors had the opportunity to get a sneak peek inside the recycling machines used to cash in their containers through Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic).

To celebrate the launch of the scheme’s newest Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) at The District Docklands, Visy invited the community to see how the machine worked to sort their glass and plastic bottles, cans, and juice boxes ready for recycling.

The new CDS Vic North Zone RVM is located in The District, Market Lane precinct, 90 Waterfront Way, Docklands, making it easier for Melburnians to recycle and be rewarded close to where they shop, dine, and are entertained.

The community can bring their eligible drink containers to the CDS Vic The District Docklands RVM and receive a refund of 10 cents per eligible drink container. The refund can be redeemed as a cash voucher refundable at Woolworths Supermarkets, via an electronic funds transfer, or as a donation to a charity.

“We’re excited to have partnered with The District Docklands to bring this new refund point to Docklands. This partnership allows us to make recycling easy and rewarding for all.” said Tim O’Donnell, Visy General Manager, Container Deposit Scheme.

"At The District, we’re always looking for ways to enhance the experience for our locals, residents, and visitors. Partnering with CDS Vic and Visy means we can offer a convenient and rewarding recycling solution right here in the heart of Docklands," said Jonathan Codman, Director of Precincts, The District Docklands.

The community can find their nearest refund point, and access their electronic refunds, through the CDS Vic North app for iOS or Android.

Visy is the Zone Operator for the CDS Vic North Zone and has established over 245 refund points across the Loddon, Mallee, and Hume regions and the inner north and eastern suburbs of Melbourne
